Suitable for:
Dental Nurses employed by Kings College Hospital wishing to enhance their careers. It is particularly appropriate for those with an interest in Training and Development or Staff Management.

The course covers

This course is available to dental nurses employed by Kings College Hospital who have an interest in Training and Development and / or Staff Management.

Departmental Mentors are expected to support student dental nurses during their time on the department by providing an appropriate induction to the department, assisting them in accessing appropriate workplace assessments and providing feedback on their performance during the rotation.

 

 

Learning outcomes

On this course you will learn:

  • What to include in an effective Induction and how to evaluate it’s effectiveness
  • How to recognise appropriate assessment opportunities for Student Dental Nurses
  • What Mentoring means
  • How to be an effective Mentor
  • How to measure performance
  • How to give constructive feedback

Entry requirements

Potential applicants must have completed the documentation required in the Qualified Dental Nurse Training & Development Policy prior to application.

Assessment

On completion of the Training Session participants will be required to complete a Portfolio of Evidence which demonstrates:

  • Their ability to plan, deliver and evaluate an induction programme across a number of Student Dental Nurses
  • Their ability to effectively evaluate performance and provide appropriate constructive feedback across a number of Student Dental Nurses
